Who We Are

Our founders are business and education professionals who are also music lovers and community philanthropists. They came to Nashville in 2019 from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and started an independent artist community, including artists, artist advisors and patrons.

Nashville Basement Stage started in our home and we continue to have shows in our basement. However, most NBS shows are now hosted in Nashville’s finest listening venues. These venues have come to know NBS as bringing high quality shows that are profitable for the both the artists and the venues. 

Artists help us find the 'others'

NBS is funded by our patrons. Our founders and VIP patrons give generously and show up consistently for our artist friends. Our mission is to find the ‘others’ - meaning patrons willing to support. One-time donations or tips of $100 or more qualify as patrons. VIP patrons donate at least $1,000 annually, which can include financial or in-kind support for the benefit of our NBS Artist Members. 100% of financial help we receive at NBS goes directly to assisting the artists. Any ticket sales revenue we receive also goes directly to assisting the artists.

Our NBS Artist Member roster is an exclusive group of 13 Independent Nashville artists or groups. We add artist members when we add VIP patrons. NBS Artist Members value NBS as part of their team. We meet with them regularly to discuss goals and expectations. NBS Artists bring us their superfans as patrons - a critical part of our ability to help them. We have no contracts with NBS Artists.

Services to NBS Artist Members, generally at no cost, include:

  • Financial support, including gifts, tips, project support and direct financial support.

  • Consulting on personal finances, tax, business prospects, industry support and contracts.

  • Booking and show planning.

  • Promotion and marketing.

  • Management or management consulting.

  • Production and creative support, including songwriting collaborations and studio support.

  • Negotiation with third-parties.

  • Photography, video and content assistance.

  • Artist consulting with NBS Artist Advisors.

We also have an impressive group of Artist Advisors who provide support and value to NBS and NBS Artists. Each May 31, we review our artist roster with our VIP patrons and artist advisors and determine whether to add or make changes to the roster.

We also support independent artists who are not NBS Artist Members.
